Some Tri-State Schools Leave Early Due to Weather Forecast

UNION CO., Ky. (WFIE) – Schools in Union County announce they will be released early Wednesday due to forecasted severe weather.

School officials say this for the safety of their students and staff and to allow buses time to complete their routes.

They say elementary schools will exit at 1 p.m. while Union County Middle School and Union County High School will close at 1:30 p.m.

According to a post on the district’s Facebook page, afternoon preschool classes are canceled along with all extracurricular activities.

Officials say APPLES daycare will be open until 4 p.m.

If parents of primary school students are not home when the buses arrive, officials say the buses will take students back to their schools.

Henderson County Schools plans to let elementary schools out at 1:30 a.m. They say the school will close at 2:30 p.m.

In Indiana, North Posey County MSD officials say they will also be fired at 1 p.m.

However, school officials say they will hold students back if conditions at 1 p.m. are unsafe.

South Gibson schools also join the list.

Officials say Gibson Southern will be out at 1 p.m. and K-8 Buildings at 1:15 p.m.

North Gibson Schools also exit earlier. All schools will close at 1:30 p.m.

Officials say the YMCA after-school daycare at Princeton Community Elementary School will be open. However, they ask parents to pick up their children before 3:30 p.m.

All other extracurricular activities are cancelled.

The Evansville Vanderburgh School Corporation has canceled all extracurricular activities for Wednesday.
