Hyderabad: The National Industrial Security Academy (NISA), in Hakimpet, Hyderabad, has won the Union Home Secretary’s Trophy for ‘Best Police Training Institution for Training Listed Officers for year 2020-21”.
This extraordinary feat for this academy was achieved during the tenure of the current Police Commissioner (PC) Hyderabad, CV Anand who was the former principal of the academy in the current year.
The Ministry of Home Affairs conducts a nationwide selection of various central police training institutes and hence BPR&D conducts a survey for the best police training institution for the year. All central government and state police training academies in the country are considered in various categories.
After careful selection by a committee assembled by BPR&D on various parameters, NISA has been selected as the best training institution for officer training for the year 2020-21.
Anand was unable to attend the award ceremony at BPR&D, Delhi due to the sensitive Dassehra and Milad-Un-Nabi events in Hyderabad. Deputy Inspector General (DIG), NISA, Srinivas Babu, received Amit Shah’s Home Minister’s Trophy, Citation and Disc on his behalf and presented them to the city’s Commissioner of Police on Tuesday.
Parameters such as the academy’s capacity to train, variety of training, upkeep and maintenance of infrastructure, websites and content, trainee-trainer ratio, annual events, social responsibilities, infrastructure training, etc. were considered for screening.
The Commissioner said that during his tenure, the Academy has been dedicated to its mission of becoming a center of excellence in letter and spirit. Several scientific methods were introduced in physical training, preparing officers and maintaining their morale and motivation.
Training infrastructure has been updated and equipment has been modernized to ensure that the best training facilities are provided to officer trainees.
Despite the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic, officer trainees were exposed for the first time to horseback riding, rock climbing and extensive jungle warfare tactics. The quality of indoor training took a big leap when the director and all senior officers began to take courses themselves.
After returning to his state cadre from Telangana, CV Anand continues to stress the importance of training in Hyderabad City Police and all PCD/Jt/Addl CP and personally conducts courses for guards at home/constables and SI/Inspector rank officers.
