The Meralco Power Academy (MPA), Meralco’s primary energy education provider, has been certified by the Department of Energy (DOE) as a First Recognized Training Institution (RTI) under recently released regulations that are part of the implementing Republic Act No. 11285 or the Energy Efficiency and Conservation Act of 2018.
As an RTI, MPA is eligible to provide training and certification for Energy Managers (EM) and Energy Auditors (EA) in the Philippines. It is the responsibility of an RTI to ensure compliance with training regulations, which include designing modules based on the common and core competencies required of EMs and EAs as defined by the DOE. An RTI must also ensure that all graduates of their program have the knowledge and skills necessary to plan, manage, implement and evaluate energy consumption and conservation programs.
Prior to DOE certification, MPA conducts its training programs in accordance with standards set by ISO50001, ISO50002, American Society of Heating, Refrigerating, and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE), and Association of Energy Engineers (AEE), among others.

Since 2015, MPA has been at the forefront of energy education, training over 300 energy management and auditing professionals from more than 80 companies across various industries. MPA actively promotes and defends energy efficiency and renewable energy programs.
