Jadavpur University has been ranked first by the prestigious Nature Index among all state universities in the country, according to a statement released by the university on Tuesday. Institutions are listed by count (number of research papers by the institution’s authors) and share (the percentage of the institution’s authors per paper).
A high share value indicates an institution’s more fractional contribution to research publications, according to the release. Based on the value of publication shares, Jadavpur University ranks first among all state universities in India, according to the release.
The index is a research wing of the science journal Nature and each year it ranks top institutions based on the number of papers and scientific papers published in top-tier journals. The ranking was announced for the year 2022 based on publications of primary research articles in 82 leading scientific journals between December 1, 2020 and November 30, 2021, the statement said.
The journals were selected by two panels comprising nearly 60 scientists. JU Vice Chancellor Professor Suranjan Das said.
