According to the IMD, most parts of Karnataka are expected to receive heavy to very heavy rains from July 29 to August 2. According to the report, rivers in the region are in flood due to unrelenting rains in Karnataka in recent days. Many dams were flooded with rainwater and fields were flooded. This caused extensive damage to crops and properties. At the same time, waterlogging in low areas is such that vehicles are seen submerged in water.
The rain has triggered flood-like situations in many coastal areas of Karnataka and Malnad. Apart from this, there have also been several incidents of landslides and land erosion. In Karnataka, normal life has been affected due to heavy rains in coastal areas and Malnad. There was a lot of loss of life and property due to rain and flooding. In such a situation, the rain alert issued by the Meteorological Service will increase the concern. In Karnataka, the rivers are in flood due to the incessant rains. Following torrential rain forecasts issued by the IMD, the district administration declared a public holiday in the schools of Mangaluru. Schools have been declared closed for the safety of children.
According to the MET department, thunderstorm squalls are expected to occur in all coastal districts of Karnataka. In addition, heavy to very heavy rains may occur in isolated places in Chikkamangaluru, Kodagu and Shivamogga districts in the southern interior of Karnataka.
