St. Vincent and the Grenadines Community College (SVGCC) has added Associate of Applied Science (AAS) in Sports Science and Associate of Science (AS) in Natural Science to its list of full-time program offerings full 2021/2022.
Sports and Programs Coordinator Roxell John said that through the AAS Sports Science, the SVGCC intends to usher in a new era of sports education in St. Vincent and the Grenadines that not not only prepares students for a profession in sport, but also has the potential to influence the overall health, well-being and productivity of the nation. Students who intend to pursue AAS Sports Science can expect to be enrolled in core courses such as Sports Biomechanics, Human Anatomy and Physiology, Coaching Methodology and Pedagogy , sports management, sports medicine, sports psychology, sports massage, teaching internship and skills. & Sports and Games Techniques for Cricket, Basketball, Athletics and Football, a statement from the College said.
The new AS Natural Sciences, according to Department Head – Sciences, Veronica Luke, seeks to respond to the growing call for more opportunities in science-based fields of study. Core courses for the natural sciences at AS include genetics, natural variation and selection, cellular and molecular biology, reproductive biology, bioenergetics, maintenance of biosystems, applications of biology, Fundamentals of Chemistry, Kinetics and Equilibria, Inorganic Chemistry, Basic Organic Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, Industrial & Environmental Chemistry, Mechanics, Oscillations & Waves, and Thermal and Mechanical Properties of Matter.
The 2021 admissions for Sports Science AAS, Natural Science AS, and all full-time Associate Degree, CAPE, and Certificate programs in the Division of Arts, Science, and General Studies (DASGS) of the SVGCC and its Division of technical and vocational education (DTVE) is open from Saturday October 30, 2021 at 11 a.m. to Wednesday November 3, 2021 at 4 p.m.
