State schools

A top-notch plunge for public schools

Florida, Florida State and Miami became football powerhouses thanks to a top-notch pipeline of talent that arrived as part of the highly ranked recruiting classes in the 1980s, 90s and 2000s. But after the FSU won the national championship in 2013 – the last of the state teams to win a title – the number of players typical of those classes has dried up.

The total number of 4 and 5 star players signed by each of these schools as well as UCF and USF from 2014 to 22.
