I am very sorry about this. Phil Zuckerman’s flight was cancelled, and therefore, we had to reschedule the lecture. I am the site’s webmaster but no longer go to Reed College, therefore, I was not able to put up signs on the doors. I will talk to our current President about this, and I feel badly that you made the long trek from Beaverton for a lecture that had to be cancelled. We will be rescheduling Zuckerman for a couple weeks in the future, and I hope you can attend then.

I rearranged my schedule and got across town from Beaverton in rush hour traffic to attend, very much looking forward to this presentation. There on the psych building was the poster confirming the info emailed to me reagrding the date and location of the lecture. Alas, the 105 auditorium was locked up tight. No answer to loud knocking and looking apparently dark inside. No note saying it had been relocated, cancelled, anything. Wandered around, asked a few people, no one seemed to know what I was talking about. Came across one other confused person going through the same steps. Rechecking sites, etc.
What gives???????
Most frustrating was believing that the lecture was happening SOMEWHERE on campus, but WHERE????? Come on Secular Alliance, you can do better!
I was fortunate to get to attend the Greta Christina lecture and appreciate what you do to bring speakers on humanism to the area. Keep it up, but keep your information current also!!!!!

Even though he’s dead, his people are under the impression that he’s divine and he’s STILL prayed to! SOUNDS VERY RELIGIOUS TO ME! How convenient to not mention any of this totalitarian belief system which parallels religion to it’s core!

Napalm was created by Harvard Scientist cooperating with the US military for the US- a Cristian country

Chemical weapons – famous for it’s use by Iran known for it’s religious based wars.

Carpet Bombing – popularized by Britain, a christian country

Nuclear Warhead – the patent goes to Leo Szilard but its use was by the Podestant government of the US and at a time when religion and government was not taboo.

Misogyny – if you ask any Misogynist whether or not they follow any religion I’ll bet they will say yes.

Lynching, Racism and Genocide – all religious based. All those who participate(d) in the act of these can explain the acceptance of their acts through the bible – which ever one they read or don’t

So what good is religion when religious people are being very unchristian like. Why not just bag religion and be good people. That’s where true “godliness” lies. Our values are inborn, religion is trying to take credit where there is none. You think God makes you be a good person but even if there was no god you probably would still be a good person. Look at children- They are born good; it’s not until religion makes their impression on them that they change. All of the RULES that they break on a daily basis are largely from religions rules.

Here’s an example: My daughter at the age of one was deemed the devil was in her by religious people because she couldn’t sit still. She was busy walking around touching things in these people’s church. She was one and everything she did was natural. Who are you to turn “Gods” work into something so bad. If you truly do believe god is good let all his creations just BE.
